Shiawassee County 9/12 Commission (SC912C) & Citizens For Traditional Values (CTVS) team up with Immanuel Baptist Church Corunna for Big Flag Display 2011!

912C and CTVS, alongside IMMANUEL BAPTIST CHURCH Corunna in honor, celebration and respect to AMERICA on INDEPENDENCE DAY WEEKEND ~ JULY 4TH with this magnificent Flag Display at the church location at: 2680 E. M-21, Corunna, Michigan.

The giant flag usually flies daily over Youngs Auto Sales on E. Main St., Owosso/Corunna.  Lori Young, when asked if Young’s would loan the flag to grassroots volunteers for display near the 4th of July Corunna Celebration at the corner of M-21 and Shia. St, Lori cleared the way and made the flag loan possible. Young Auto Sales employee, Dan Ziola, worked with the volunteers to get the flag ready for the project.  He also shared that Young’s immediately hoisted their 9/11 flag to fly through the weekend so as not to leave vacant the position of the Big Flag, with plans for it’s return to it’s home base early in the first week of July.

Ken Themm, Jason Georges, Homer Bennett, Bonnie Bennett, Mike Drimsby, Bea Vajgart, Shelah Hockman, CTVS and others worked behind the scene and out front. Even had a Betsy Ross sewing story with Cindy Georges bringing in her sewing machine to repair some fray of the proud flag edging. 6:30 AM Sunday Morning the display crew met and accomplished the GOAL:   ” Proud to Display the Flag of the USA!!”.

Jim and Sharon Van Pelt arriving at the flag location at 8:00 AM with SC912C handout materials for Immanuel’s “American Exceptionalism” 11 AM service found the FLAG DISPLAY already having people stop to take a picture.  People were commenting on how awesome it looks at the road edge for all to see.  Taking a picture from across the road, a motorcycle pulled in behind the Van Pelts, a man got off his bike and took some pictures commenting as a question,  “What a great way to start the day”?

We encouraged all who could……to drive by and take a look as we enjoyed celebrations with family and loved ones on this Independence Day, 2011.   May we always remember, “Freedom isn’t Free ~ We Live in the Land of the Free….Only Because of the Brave”!  May we NEVER forget the sacrifices made for us.

God Bless America and Happy 4th of July was wished for each and their families!
